Great value on the set menu

I was looking for a decent place for dinner that wouldn't break the bank and saw they had a set lunch menu deal. I tried the Steak and Ale Pie from that menu, and it was a really good deal for the price. I thought the portion size was generous, and the pie itself was flavorful and hearty. I also got a soft drink with it. I feel like I got good value for my money, especially compared to what I'd usually pay for a similar meal elsewhere. It felt like a smart choice.

Decent Sunday Roast

Had the Sunday Roast. Gravy was good. Meat was cooked well. Service was quick enough. No major issues.

Good meal, but slow service

I went in for a Pub Lunch last week and ordered the Fish and Chips. The food itself was really tasty, nice crispy batter and the fish was fresh. My drink, a pint of real ale, was also well-kept. The atmosphere was pleasant, relaxed and cozy inside. However, the service was a bit slow; it took a while for our order to be taken and then quite a wait for the food to arrive. Not a huge deal, but noticeable if you're on a tighter schedule. Overall, it was a good experience, just wished they were a little quicker.

What's the deal with their 'rewards club'? Is it worth signing up?

P Paul Brown 3 weeks ago
Yeah, it's pretty decent. You get points for spending, and those turn into money off future meals. Plus, they sometimes send exclusive offers to members.

I'm in it, you get freebies sometimes and it's nice to build up points for a discount. Also, you get first dibs on some seasonal deals.

How do you actually use the vouchers? Do you just show your phone at the end?

S Sam Hall 1 month ago
Yup, usually it's a QR code on your phone from the email or app. Just show it when you're paying.

Pretty straightforward, just flash the digital voucher. Make sure you've got the Greene King app or the email handy.

Does anyone know if they do special menus for holidays like Christmas Day? Thinking of booking something for the family.

L Luke L. 1 week ago
Oh yeah, they always do. Festive menus are a big thing, and they'll have special sittings for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Book early though, they fill up fast.

Absolutely! Keep an eye on their website around October/November, that's when they usually drop the Christmas and New Year's menus. Can be really nice for a family meal.

Are their burgers actually decent or just typical pub grub? Miller & Carter has spoiled me a bit.

N Nancy Moore 2 weeks ago
They're not Miller & Carter level, but they're pretty solid for a pub. Gourmet burgers are a step up from basic, usually pretty tasty.

I'd say better than Toby Carvery or Harvester burgers. For a pub chain, they're definitely respectable, especially the premium ones.

Hey, wondering if these places are usually dog friendly? Planning a road trip and wanna bring my pug.

E Eric S. 1 week ago
Yeah, a lot of them are! I've seen plenty of pups in the garden areas. Some even let them inside in certain spots.

They totally are, my local Chef & Brewer always has water bowls out for dogs. Just check their specific pub's page online to be super sure about inside access, some can be a bit strict.
